Residents of our apartments in Lexington Park can take advantage of Greenwell State Park located just a 25-minute drive away from home. When you’ve arrived at this scenic destination, try the following activities for an enjoyable day in nature.
The grounds at the park are very picnic-friendly. All you have to do is bring wine that you can pick up from some of Maryland’s best wineries and load up on snacks before you head out. Find a nice shady spot so that you don’t overheat! After you finish picnicking, you can explore some of the marked trails that are open for bicycle riding, hiking, and horseback riding.
Canoeing and Kayaking
If you have a kayak at home or any other non-motorized craft, you’re welcome to bring it for your enjoyment. The park features an accessible floating kayak and canoe launch on the beach, allowing you easy access to the water. Lastly, the Greenwell Foundation organizes kayaking events and outings for people with disabilities.
Fishing and Hunting
Fishing is one of those activities that you can do year-round at Greenwell State Park. However, your fishing activities will be limited to the shoreline revetment or the pier. For those who are 16 years or older, you need to come prepared with your sportfishing license. Park users also have a total of 187 acres of hunting space to explore. Make sure you wait until hunting season before you bring your hunting gear to the park.
