Spend the Day Exploring Solomons Island Activities

Solomons Island is a short drive from our Lexington Park apartments. It’s a picturesque waterfront town where the Patuxent River runs into the Chesapeake Bay. This quaint little town is the ideal destination to spend a day with friends or to have a date night with your significant other. Check out these perfect Solomons Island activities.

The Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center is one of the many hidden gems tucked away on Solomons Island. The sculpture garden is dog-friendly! It has thirty-six unique art installations, a native butterfly garden, as well as an impressive collection of Glenn Dale azaleas. Its sprawling garden paths offer an escape into nature. When you’re in the mood to stay indoors, the John Dennis Murray Arts Building and Studio School Building each host exhibits by talented artists from all over the country.

From fossils and a giant Megalodon replica to aquariums and a lighthouse as well as boat building activities, the Calvert Marine Museum has something for everyone. The museum is your one-stop-shop for marine biology, paleontology, and maritime history. There is no better way to experience maritime living than right here.

Witness the splendor of the island by chartering a boat ride from one of the marinas. You can take a leisurely sunset cruise on the Patuxent River or a fishing excursion. Whichever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

For a small island, there are a surprising number of great restaurants to enjoy. Sip a tropical drink at Tiki Bar – who are famous for their Mai Tais – or enjoy everything from steaks to seafood at The Lighthouse Restaurant and Dock Bar. You can also take in the marina on the deck of Island Hideaway, or relax at the upscale lounge at Bugeye Grill. Whatever your dining preference, you will most certainly be spoiled for choice with Solomons Island activities.

Each of these Solomons Island activities is a quick drive from Lexington Park. If you’re in the mood for some more exploring, why not check out some of the wineries in the area. When you’re ready to take advantage of what living at Glenn Forest has to offer, please feel free to contact our leasing team. We will show you everything that our apartments in Lexington Park have to offer.
